“‘Bubble’ Spring Collection”, “Harper’s Bazaar”, 1963.
Photographer Melvin Sokolsky. Model Simone D’Aillencourt.
Harper’s Bazaar magazine hired fashion photographer Melvin Sokolsky & world-famous French model Simone D’Aillencourt to shoot their 1963 Spring Fashion Collection.
Sokolsky placed D’Aillencourt, wearing the most elegant pieces, inside a giant plexiglass bubble and suspended her from a crane at various locations in Paris.
The end result is one of the most surreal & iconic fashion shoots you will ever see. Even today, half a decade later, the Sokolsky/D’Aillencourt Harper’s Bazaar shoot is still cited & referenced as one of the greatest fashion shoots of all time.
